Gardening is so often a pursuit for perfection, but these freaks of nature show how beautiful and unpredictable gardens can be.

At once whimsical and sumptuous, these images allow us to see otherwise familiar fruits and vegetables as if for the first time. Maybe we even have to ask, what is that?

I am fascinated by all things slightly absurd and peculiar and this on-going series of images captures my lifelong obsession with such curiosities.

I isolated each of these unexpected treasures completely from their natural environments so that their unique characteristics are on full display. I use a flatbed scanner instead of a camera to capture these one-of-a-kind fruits and vegetables.
